Look at me finally updating again.
Uh.....
Last time I typed something I think I said I was in college.
I'm done with college lol, got my BFA in Animation.
Been pretty offline for prodominatley work reasons.
Back online now cause well, COVID-19 kinda took my job. And now I have aaaaaalll this free time.
Will do my best updating other social media accounts, uh.
I'm honestly suprised i still have followers of any kind despite being actively dormant?

Xanth is a very interesting character with a very interesting concept behind him. He has an awesome design and a great sense of style!! I really love how you construct your comic strips and your storytelling is awesome and creative too
You're really good with drawing people, you draw hands really well and body proportions look good too. You have really creative poses and expressions for your characters in everything you draw
Your drawing style of Xanth has remained consistent throughout the whole of OC-Training.

First of all, I absolutely love the brightness of your gallery, and every artwork immediately captures my attention! One thing that absolutely captivates me is the 'expressions' of your characters. When I first saw Xanth, I was captivated by his smile. It's amazing how much you were able to portray about his personality from his expression and body gesture alone.
I also find your story telling skills really entertaining, and your characters feel free and unrestricted by the panels and formatting of comic strips. I also love your sense of humour >//<
Your skills for anatomy, composition, background and colour-sense is well established. So if there's one area for improvement, I would focus on shading. So far majority of your drawings are flat-colouring, however your enthusiastic lineart and composition gives a sense of depth and dynamics. So if you could develop a shading style, I think it could make your artworks even more captivating! Also when shading, rather than choosing a colour of the same hue, but darker, try play around with colours of different hues to create a more natural and vibrant feeling.
Overall, I find not only Xanth, but all of your characters and how they intereact really intriguing, and can't wait to see more of them!!

I've honestly wanted to go more into shading but I never really found a comfortable or fitting method. Airbrush, cell shading (probably did it wrong), etc. Along with the choosing different colors advice, do you have any other shading advice? Like grays and such?

Once you know what you like to achive exactly in each scene, you will know if to pick airbrush (like upcoming final collab) or cell shading (for stron, point light source).

Indeed!! It took me several years of switching between cell and soft shade, but then I realised you can always have a mix of both as opposed to sticking to only one 'style'.
I used SAI to paint, and I found the 'marker' and 'watercolour' tool very useful to start shading, and I think it's a very good intro tool!
Also, if you want to practice where the shades are, then you can practice from black and white photos with high contrast.
As to what colours to use, you can just experiment~ Try doing your shading on a different layer, and then press 'ctrl+u', and play with the colour until you find something satisfying.
